Art Mondays : Damien Hirst - For The Love of God
Most people fear death, Hirst glamorized it and asked "What if death had diamonds? Would you mind it then?" it seems that in the materialistic and superficial society we live in people would not mind being this skull, genius. "For The Love of God" is being displayed at the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence until May 2011

Fashion Wednesdays : All black everything, almost!
Asos Tweed Baseball Jacket |
Junya Watanabe sneakers |
BBC Plaid shirt |
O'clock watch |
Fashion Wednesdays : Lady like in black
YSL |
Altuzarra Trench Coat |
O'clock watch (Milan) |
I find black so intriguing, especially when its accented with subtle colors like the white of this watch and the purple on the heel, it would be perfected by some fitted black jeans and of course a great muse.....just inspiration for Fall. Ladies the shoes and coat can be found at colette.fr (there are of course cheaper alternatives) and the watch can be found at oclock.bigcartel.com/ maybe the purple one would suit this best, you decide!

Music Tuesdays : The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio
One of the best bands out right now, from their new album "High Violet. This song reminds of the Lebron James saga, almost as if it was inspired by it. "I was carried to Ohio in a swarm of bees
I'll never marry but Ohio don't remember me".

Art Monday's : Takashi Murakami @ Château de Versailles
Takashi Murakami is a Japanese Pop Artist influenced by Japanese manga and anime. He is one of the most prolific contemporary artists in Japan and around the world. His art is controversial and mind boggling, flowing with color and contemporary social issues of Japanese culture. This is the second time in the 2 years that Château de Versailles opens their prestigious doors to a Pop Artist. Of course in Murakami style the exhibition is being heavily criticized by the people who claim Murakami's work is tasteless and not to the standards of the traditional Versailles Palace. Protests have ensued but the exhibition will open as planned. Its a nice juxtaposition to put something so modern in front of something so classic. It gives Versailles color and vibe it has never had before.
Murakami's Exhibition opens September 14th.

Life in Los Angeles : Downtown LA Art Walk
"Life in Los Angeles" are the posts i will be anticipating the most. Ive been living in and around the Los Angeles area my entire life. Ive seen the eye sores and ive seen the potential. Ive always wanted to promote this city for what it is on the inside not what it is portrayed to be on the outside. Finally, this is possible. LA is having a cultural revolution, where Warhol's and Lichtenstein's can be discussed while drinking beer and eating tacos, Where rap cyphers mesh with indie rock bands, and where nicely dressed people aestheticize our growing skyline. Everyone in the LA I know is not worried about being on a "champagne diet", their worries are dwarfed by their passion for expression, inspiration bounces off the Broadway streets and beautiful creative pieces are exhibited fueling vibrant energy. I can now proudly say : Welcome to Downtown LA, the new, the real, LA.

Film Thursday's Banksy's Exit Through The Gift Shop
I decided to start Film Thursdays with Banksy's Exit Through The Gift Shop. I consider Banksy one of the most thought provoking contemporary artists. He has put street art at the forefront of respectability with amazing stencils all over the world. Its simple if your great at what you do your talent wont ever be denied. Banksy stenciled his way to prominance and now continues to make meaningful work that never goes unnoticed. Exit Through The Gift Shop gives a little insight on Banksy's work but tells more about the world we live in. A world where art is misinterpreted by trends, money, hype, and stupidity. Its a satire on the current state of art that has no substance. Banksy pokes fun at the establishment and continues his growth as an artist through film. We can only hope as a society that rebels like Banksy continue to inspire and work from the most important place, the heart.

Fashion Wednesdays
I start Fashion Wednesdays with one of my favorite designers, Junya Watanabe. When I think Watanabe the first word that comes up is simply "cool". High School jocks would be jealous of this varsity jacket, because what's cooler than Watanabe in contemporary clothing? Nothing.
